The Chahar Profit - Starlord Class Jumpship

The story of the Chahar Profit is one of those deep lore incidents which make for an interesting historical footnote in the succession war years of the BT universe.  Its a stand-out example of inter-war shenanigans and how small skirmishes are the bedrock of the BT game system - despite recent story telling focusing on every large and more cataclysmic battles’.

Following the 1st Succession War, House Steiner mandated that Jumpships which had been seized for war logistics could resume their civilian trade so long as they made 3 mercy runs to Lyran worlds in need of aid.  While the Chahar Trading Company initially hesitated at such measures they soon saw the error of their ways after some very heavy handed convincing by the Archon.  It was on one such run that the Chahar Profit made a misjump ending up in the House Kurita system of Darius.  As one can imagine the Dragon was not in a mood to give back a jumpship full of supplies.

The Chahar Profit did manage to get off a jumpship beacon, a rarity in later years but not outright extinct in the days leading up to the 2nd Succession War.  As a result House Steiner learned of the fate of the Chahar Profit and formed a rescue mission to retrieve it, reforming the famed Stealths' just for the occasion.  A daring rescue ensured, resulting in the recapture of the Chahar Profit, and reprisal raids by House Kurita later that year.

I wanted an excuse to paint a jumpship and the story of the Chahar Profit was an excellent one.  I settled on a Star Lord jumpship for this, even though the lore does not explicitly state what kind of jumpship the Chahar Profit was.  I chose a white and blue paint scheme to represent the Lyran origins, even though the ship itself was an independent trader.  This was my first time really painting white as a base coat and I realized quickly how difficult white is to work with.

In terms of the miniature - while I love Ironwind Metals for making battlespace scale miniatures I hated putting this one together. Each jumpship sail arm is individually glued into the miniature, a painstaking and often failed process.  While I encourage everyone to get into the space side of the game, especially when doing campaign operations style play - these mini’s will drive you nuts if you try to do them en masse.

Happy I did it - will be taking a break from jumpships for a while though.
