Theodore Kurita and the Revenant ON1-K Orion

Teddy Kurita ca. 3025
Teddy Kurita is perhaps the most beloved Kurita character of all the clan era writings, getting a whole novel dedicated to him and his rise to lead the Draconis Combine.  He is featured in the Legends sourcebook as well, with a depiction of his Orion class Battlemech “Revenant”.  Gifted to Theodore in 3018 after Combine salvage crews discovered it stashed in the New Samarkand system, it held a long heritage to be envied.

Originally piloted by Alexander Kerensky himself the newly christened Revenent soon found itself following Theodore Kurita around the Combine boarder systems after Teddy fell out with his father and was cast to the Legions of Vega in punishment.  The Legions of Vega, at that time, were the dumping ground of the Combines refuse mechwarriors; men and women who did not live up the ideals of honor and discipline endemic in the DCMS.  Rather this group of motley warriors lacked proper supply and maintenance, and suffered signally low morale until Theodore took command.

Recognizing all the ways the DCMS was failing in its purpose by sticking to old Samurai ideals Theodore used the Legions of Vega, already at the nadir of honor in an honor society, to experiment and rid the legion of the old ways.  It was not until the 4th Succession War and the invasion of Marfik where Theodore was commanding the 11th Legion of Vega that his tactics really started to show.  The 4th Skye Rangers and 25 supporting conventional regiments landed on the world and engaged the Legion.  Realizing the future Coordinator was on world; the Lyran forces staged a merry chase attempting to pin Theodore in place and kill or capture him.  Switching rides with his aide Theodore slipped off world and returned to Vega where he organized its successful defense.

The Revenant meanwhile, piloted by Theodores comrade, led the Lyran's on a chase tying up otherwise productive units.  Although the Revenant would be destroyed by the end of the campaign, it served its masters well.

I really love the Legion of Vega.  I remember reading Heir to the Dragon as a teenager and really getting into the Combine and all its facets; and the Legion’s paint scheme of dull gray and red is appealing to both the eye and relatively easy to paint.  Here we have Theodore’s Revenant in my version of Legion of Vega colors.  I did this before I bought Legends and so was free to do it in my own style, without adherents to the canonical version.  I like mine better, anyway. Vallejo Cold Gray for the base coat, and Khorne Red from Games Workshop for the red accents. Standard cockpit and barrel glow - and as always decals are my own.
