Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade - Federated Suns 3025

In 3026 the commander of the 5th Sword of Light was looking to improve his political standing, as Kuritan commanders of that time were wont to do, and figured he could launch a small planetary invasion to bump up his street cred with the Kurita High Command.  He conceived of the Ozawa campaign, and he was rewarded with an approved mission by his regiment to take the world.  Sorenson's Sabers landed with the rest of the regiment in April of 3026 where they immediately surrounded and assaulted the major urban center of Farrows Junction. Its defense was the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade, an assortment of mechs, infantry and Armor which gave a good accounting of themselves before being overrun.

This campaign is detailed in the Sorenson's Sabers sourcebook, and in honesty it could have been significantly beefed up.  It is described as hard city fighting, and I would have enjoyed seeing more details on the initial urban battle.  But there are only 3 scenarios detailed in the scenrio pack, and it mostly focuses on the 5th being forced to withdraw after the 3rd Crucis Lancers show up.

But before they lost, the 5th Sword of Light did a fair amount of winning.  Detailed in the scenario is the unit depicted here, an Urban Defense Lance backed up by two A/C10 turrets.  When I saw a lore based lance sporting 3 Urbanmechs I automatically threw it into the future project bin - In this case I have taken a liberty of making one of them the 60L - because who doesn't love a walking AC20 in an urban fight.

For the turrets I wanted to go for that old school 3025 feel, and so instead of printing one of the many fine Turret options available these days, which all feel very much pulled from or inspired by Mechwarrior video games, I went with the bunker and turret options from Iron Wind Metals.  I am still debating if I should label the hexs or leave them available for other scenarios and weapon systems.  So for now they remain un labeled.

For the lance I was attempted to pull off some cold war era Berlin Camo inspired designs and I feel I got partially there.  I think if I were to attempt it again I would go with a higher contrast as they Wolf Grey from Army Painter just did not stand out enough against the Uniform Grey.  The Hull Red hit the mark I think.

I will be following up on the Ozawa Campaign with Crucis Lancer units in the future.
