Tai-i Junshi Ukawa got one last opportunity to serve the Coordinator in 2825 when he was offered a chance to join the Dragon's Chain Gangs while serving a long prison sentence following his refusal of orders during the Kentares Massacre. This is the core premise of "Echoes' of Disgrace"; a short story featured in Shrapnel detailing a Chain Gang mission to Sheat V. It is this story, which I recommend, which has inspired the capstone project for my Chain Gang project. In the end the story ends how you would expect, the Chain Gang gets annihilated, but Tai-i Ukawa gets' he samurai's death he desires.

The story, besides being a fine piece of lore about a storyline rarely visited, also afforded me the opportunity to paint a couple of mechs I rarely would get to while still in the late succession wars projects I am currently working on - a Thug and a Kintaro. By the 3rd Succession War most of these machines are destroyed or used for parts - and perhaps more importantly neither existed in the early decade of the game when FASA was putting out scenario books and original rule books which are filled with Wasps, Stingers, Pheonix Hawks, and Rifleman. Revisiting these time periods with modern writers offers a chance to revisit with different mechs, and different story angles more developed and mature than were present at the start of the game.
The story describes mountain camouflage adorning the Chain Gang and so I did a base coat of white, followed by a contrast white. This worked quite well, and I have taken note for when I get around to doing comguards at some point. On top of this I did patches of Militarum Green contrast which gave it a very fine winter camo look. I am quite pleased with it and may revisit this color scheme in later projects if it fits.
Additionally I had an extra battlespace/aerotech scale model of a Union lying around and so I added the dropship "Dragon's Flame" to the collection just because I have so few Bspace minis. Though this is going to change - Siege of Hesperus anyone? Anyway, I digress...
This lance wraps up the Chain Gang project, giving me a full company of the coordinators finest rejects, unproductive's and prisoners to send on one way trips down the gravity well.
