3rd Crucis Lancers - Ozawa Campaign, 3026

In 3026 the 5th Sword of Light landed on the Davion world of Ozawa in force, decimating the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade in the process.  By April House Davion was looking to impose its control on the world anew and landed the 3rd Crucis Lancers and there associated support units on world.  The 5th Sword of Light put up its stiffest defense inside Farrow Junction; using the urban terrain to its advantage in the defense.  It was here that Sorenson's Sabers faced off against a company of the 3rd Crucis and a lance of light armor (Sharpe's Dragoons).

This unit of the 3rd Crucis Lancers is detailed in the Sorenson's Sabers scenario book in scenario 2 of the Ozawa Campaign 'Swift Vengeance'.  As usual I recreated the company as it is written in the scenario making this a fully canonical 3rd Crucis Lancers company circa 3026; the only exception is my addition of a single Wasp to the recon lance to even out the company.

The company is fairly heavy for a 3025 era unit with a Stalker coming in as its heaviest unit with a half the unit coming in above 60 tons.  In the scenario it says that Sorenson's Sabers were able to hold off the company, with the assistance of two A/C-10 gun positions, but that seems unlikely unless they really used there aerospace fighter to advantage.  I have not actually played this one out, but since i have all the elements maybe I will do just that and see how it goes.


The Crucis Lancers base coat is contrast Miltarum Green; same as I used for McKinnon's Raiders with a simple yellow highlight.  This is very similar to my Eridani Light Horse scheme excepting I used contrast paint for the lancers to distinguish.  I had some extra bits and piece's of scatter debris so I threw that on the bases just for fun and to clear out some of the junk box's. The tanks are in what is now the SOP Davion Green of Olive Drab base coats; like the Kurita Khaki base coat this will be my new standard for all Davion armor assets.

Overall the Sorenson's Sabers has a complete Battalion of the 3rd Crucis detailed and I plan on doing them all eventually to compliment a complete battalion of the 7th Crucis as detailed in the Battleforce book.  Open to suggestions as to what other Crucis Lancer units I should add to round out a Regiment.

Sorenson's Sabers - Circa 3025

I have always intended to do full Battlemech Companies from all the early scenario packs, with the Gray Death Legion being the first such project.  Sorenson's Sabers is the second effort, and much like the GDL project once I got into it I realized there was a ton of great cannon units to be pulled from the source material.  Sorenson's Sabres has a lot going for it, its classic 3rd Succession War era fluff - lots of raids and fighting the Davions ; its a Sword of Light unit which means it makes my Draconian fanboy happy, and its a quirky unit.  The company has both a Land Air Mech and a rarely seen Aerospace fighter in place of a mech.  All things I like to see in a unit when I am developing a project. Siege of Hesperus II - 2nd Succession War

This is probably the most ambitious project to date.  When I was compiling my collection of lore and spotted the duel scenarios of Tactics of Desperation from Battlecorp archives I knew I wanted to do this as a fleet project.  I always loved battlespace, even with all its flaws in game play, and the dynamic of fighting in orbit before you could start the mech battles.  And this is the biggest fleet engagement that appears in print so far.
