Detailed in the short story at the front of Historic Turning Points: Mallory's World is the death of Ian Davion, first prince of the Federated Suns at the hands of Yorinaga Kurita in 3013. This contest is the origin story of a number of story arcs which feed into the 4th Succession War, and in some ways underpin the Kell Hound narratives into the clan invasion era as well. This period marks the high water mark of the 3rd Succession wars as a number of key events leading into the founding era of 3025 are begun in the 3010's.

In preparation for invasion of Halstead Station; and the retrieval of Lostech believed to be found there, Ian was caught out by a surprise attack on his staging point on Mallory's World. There his 4th Davion Guards fought a running battle with the 2nd Sword of Light; culminating in his holding action in a valley where he single handedly faced down the assault of the Kurita regiment to by his forces time to withdraw. In the contest Yorinaga Kurita piloting his Warhammer finally felled the first prince, killing him.
This would cement Yorinaga as a great warrior in the hearts and minds of the Kuritan's; as well as set the path of his confrontation - even grudge - against the mercenary Kell Hounds. The Kell Hounds would attempt to relieve Prince Ian before his death, arriving moments to late. In the ensuing battle they forced the 2nd Sword of Light troops away from the fallen Ian Davion to recovery his body.
This project was two fold - to capture an iconic moment in the 3rd Succession War which was really prologue to the main story of Hanse Davion and Takashi Kurita battles to take place later, but also to showcase the magnificent terrain of HexTech and what it looks like in a 3d tabletop space. The Desert Tree hex's are my own kitbash and available on Cults account if you would like to make your own. I also added some dead mech markers to represent the downed Kurita mechs which preceded Yorinaga's arrival. Whenever I have mis prints I always set the aside for nice details like this to create a more dynamic tabletop experience.
