88th Vegan Mechanized - Mechanized Infantry Bn
I do love the infantry. When playing the more advanced rules they can actually be pretty effective in some roles, and as I was looking at how to expand my collection I realized several things: First - infantry are basically static across eras so infantry mini's age really well across different periods of table top play. Secondly there are some really cool proxy-able APC units out there that make creating interesting infantry bases easy and kinda fun to create. And finally its economical to do this silly huge projects now that I can 3D print infantry - and since Wakes Emporium was kind enough to design some great proxies for Kurita infantry I dove straight in.
Essentially I had already decided to do the 88th Vegan Mechanized because they are associated to the Legion of Vega and I thought it was kind of a cool unit name and as I got to looking at it I decided I wanted a full company of each infantry type to have on hand to play - so a battalion was born.
The miniatures are taken from Brigade Models Hammer Slammer 6mm line. For the tracked APC I choose the Kunitsa APC model which looks great panted up and has a nice rear door to take a number decal so you can keep your squads sorted. For the hover troops I choose the Magnus APC for its big top looking troop bay which is awesome for taking vehicle decals. Beware these take up a lot of hexbase space so choose your infantry spacing wisely. And for the wheeled troops I choose the Odyssey APC which again has a great top for decaling numbers for easy squad recognition.
The infantry are the Britannica models by Wakes Emporium. The helmet styles work great for the Kurita standard infantry and they have additional SRM infantry models so you can have SRM platoons visually represented.
