Wheeled Armor Co - 11th Armored Regiment c.a. 4th Succession War

While re-reading the novel "Heir to the Dragon" and its recounting of the 4th Succession War a mention was made of the 11th Armored Regiment, and how there light vehicles would not be able to stand up to the advancing Lyran hordes.  I decided to use that as the basis for my last light DCMS vehicle company for a battalion formation - and wanted something distinct and capturing the iconic wheeled vehicles of the Succession and Clan Invasion eras.

I settled on Strikers and Hetzler variants - two designs common and with excellent new 3D renditions available. I did have to make a kitbash of the LRM/SRM variant of the Hetzer which I have published on my Cults page if anyone would like it - as always its free or you can make a modest donation to keep my resin habit supplied.


As always this is my SOP for Kurita Armor - khaki base layer for all generic house armor regiments with just a touch of silvering and, where appropriate, light blue for glass and gray black on the wheels.  Kurita and Number decals - and the base decals are all home made from a waterslide printer.

1st Co; 2nd Bn - Kell Hounds; Mallory's World

The original entry in the world of Batteltech for the now famous Kell Hounds was the death of Ian Davion on Mallory's World.  Here the 2nd Sword of Light caught the Davion first prince and killed him as he covered a withdrawal of his Guards off world.  With the Prince down one the field the Kell Hounds rushed the 2nd Sworders to secure the body and prevent it being carried off to the Combine as a trophy.  The original Kell Hounds scenario book has one such meeting between Zakahashi's Zombies (see previous project post) and the 1st Co. of the Kell Hounds 2nd Battalion which I have recreated here. Kurita Command Lance - 2nd Sword of Light; Circa 4th Succession War

  This lance is taken directly from the 4th Succession War Atlas sourcebook.  In the listings there the 1st Battalions command lance is listed as "H4".  When we reference this in the atlas tables for the standard Kurita lance of this type we see it is made up of a Dragon, Warhammer, Rifleman and Grasshopper.  In true fashion then I have added this exact lance to my 2nd Sword of Light Battalion to maintain its lore compliance - and these are as always classic succession wars mechs with beautiful lines to paint... even if I do think the Grasshopper is a bit to common place in the DCMS for its 'rarity' it has in the lore.

McKinnon's Raiders - 7th Crucis Lancers c.a. 3027

I have always enjoyed the old school lore, especially the scenario packs from the very beginnings of the Battletech universe.  Recently Catalyst has really brought back that deep lore with there Shrapnel magazine and short stories, as well as going back and bringing in things like the Whirlwind and Harrier hover vehicles which had appeared in the old battletechnology magazine series.  With that said one of the Painting Lore goals is to capture all the original scenario books to some extent, always the main battlemech company but also much of the OpFor mentioned.  Here we have a classic, McKinnons Raiders of the 7th Crucis Lancers just before the start of the 4th Succession War. The Crucis Lancers brigade would feature prominently in the 4th SuccessionWar as they gobbled up large swaths of Capelan territory.  McKinnon's Raiders actually appear as part of this units complete TO&E in the original Battleforce as part of 'Vanur's Battalion' as well as being presented ...
